Rabindranath Tagore spent a few weeks in China in 1924, giving quite a few lectures and talks in the course of his visit to Nanjing, Beijing,Hangzhou and Shanghai. These lectures were subsequently published as Talks in China, first by Visva-Bharati, probably after his return to India in 1924; however, this edition was withdrawn later for reasons unknown. What was later made available is the 1925 edition printed by Arunoday Art Press of Kolkata. It is dedicated to the Chinese poet Xu Zhimo (1895-1931), whom Rabindranathhad fondly called Susima.1
